OSCARS 2004, A CLEAN SWEEP FOR LOTR
MESSAGE FROM BRUCE:|
"Gidday. Is it actually synchronicity that the words eleven and elven are one
'E' away from being one and the same? Freaky. I don't know, you be the judge.
Massive cyber (emanating from my heart and soul but expressed through fingers
on keyboard) congratulations to the team who created this wonderful, wonderful
journey. It is amazing how many people say congratulations to me. I'm like "wow,
cool, thank you" (what did I do again!). I guess that to me indicates that in
fact the comraderie that pervaded the making of this incredible slice of
movie history, has in fact enveloped the audience, and they see it as a team
effort as well, which is damn nice. To my mind, included in that team, are all of you at TORN. Yes, these movies would have gone on to do wonderful business and stir passion in many people's lives, but without you lot who have literally slaved away, sometimes under real duress, this global phenomena would not be what it is. When Peter, Fran, Barrie and the entire team (apart from the 3 amigos, Sala, Lawrence and myself!!!), go straight to your party from the astounding evening they had already experienced, that is not some token (Tolkien) gesture. That was acknowledgment of your being part of the team, and wanting to share the glory with you for your quite mind blowing dedication and love and support. So, without further ado, the Oscar for Best Fanatics goes to theonering.net (have you noticed how without the T & W, twelve is...elve!!!...freaky!!!) Now for my apology. When we 3 kings (sorry that's another story!),let me start again, when we 3 kiwi actors realised we had been waiting at the wrong place (we had stayed at the New Line party having been informed the crew were coming there and travelling to TORN from there), I can tell you our hearts broke. I wanted so much to be there to see and feel the craziness that I knew would ensue. I apologise for not being with you. When we came, in time to be herded out by the unsmiling security guards, you guys were so giving still. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I think maybe we created an unofficial kissing and hugging record. How many kisses and hugs can be got in ten minutes? You lot rock, hopefully we will continue to cross paths in real life as well as cyberly. My heartfelt love goes to you all." |
