Febuary 11, 2006:

Gidday one and all,

Opps,... I blinked and there went the first month of the new year.

2006 now has only 11 months to run until the heavenly odometer clicks over to 2007. This is of course only in relation to certain cultural calendars. The Chinese new year is only just happening, so go figure!

As I write this I have just finished reading a passage from a book by a guy called Osho. I have read this book through a couple of times but with this reading I was suddenly struck by the insight he provides about time. Allow me to indulge and quote from his book:

“All these expressions that time is fleeting, and passing and going, are just a kind of consolation. It is really you who are passing – going down the drain every moment. And you go on thinking it is time that is passing, as if you are going to stay and time is going to pass! Time is where it is; it is not passing. Watches and clocks are man’s creation to measure the passing time, which is not passing at all.”

Man I love that!!! So the question is where are you passing to, and how will you experience the journey as you pass?

So there you bloody go!

Now back to what has been taking place in the world of... me.

A great summer holiday was had, travelling back and forth between Auckland and my parents house (located in a version of paradise, north of Auckland). I also had a couple of visits to my mate with whom I do my radio and comedy shows. He and his whanau (family) rent a house in a small coastal village that in my mind is almost as good as this planet has to provide. I literally find myself feeling like crying with joy as each day evolves when I am in that environment.

Be it the ocean rising and falling in its marriage with the moon, or the sun exploding colours across the clouds above, the waves inviting you to play, the shell fish filling your belly with a sea borne nectar, the ripened grapefruit waiting for you to take them from their tree and indulge in their dripping sweet bitterness, the stingray that swims casually past your legs as you walk the shallows, the night sky dripping light beamed from distant stars.......... there is so much to experience by just being.

I have also had some wonderful sessions in the surf, getting absolutely hammered on occasion and every now and then catching a wave that transports me into a state of bliss. To anyone who has ever harboured a desire to surf but not followed through on that desire....just get out there and do it.

Recommended watching, "Riding Giants“ and "Dogtown and Z Boys“. Both should inspire. Life is to be lived!...kind of makes sense really doesn’t it?

The award winning digital feature film, '1nite', which I had released on DVD last year, is currently playing a 2 week season in the newly refurbished Rialto digital cinemas here in Auckland. If you wish to purchase a copy of the film feel free to go to our website at www.indipact.com and purchase online. The website is in urgent need of work, but your order will go through to a very established retail site in NZ, called Real Groovy.

My partner in film, Amarbir Singh and I are continuing to work on our future projects and need to secure funding for these. So if you are looking to invest in film, let us know, we are looking for investors. This could be the start of something big!!!

In the meantime I begin rehearsals for a major theatre production called “The Holy Sinner”, and believe me the story lives up to the grandeur of the name. The show is based on the story of the same name written by Thomas Mann in the early 1950’s.

The show is the baby of my dear friends Mike Mizrahi and Mari Adams, who I have worked with many times over the years and who happen to be my creative gurus. I don’t say that lightly. These people are near geniuses when it comes to live events and theatre. They were commissioned over the years by Louis Vuitton to create the Louis Vuitton Cup Ball each year that NZ hosted the Americas Cup regatta. They also created the show that Louis Vuitton took around the world to celebrate their 150th anniversary. And now Mike and Mari (Inside Out Productions) are back in the realms of theatre.

NZ's Cliff Curtis (Three Kings, Runaway Jury, Bringing Out The Dead, Collateral) is playing the lead role, which was originally played by the one and only Michael Hurst (Iolaus, of Hercules and Xena fame) 12 yrs ago when the show was first devised.

So hopefully we will be performing at a major arts festival near you, over the coming year!

Well I shall depart at this point, things to do, people to see, a DVD to promote (go on you know you want it, buy '1nite' now!!!)
